The Founding Head of Secondary will play a critical role in creating a strong school culture rooted in DBS Mira’s motto: “Enjoy, Aspire, Achieve.”
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will:
- Develop a compelling vision and operational strategy for the secondary phase
- Lead academic and pastoral excellence across KS3–KS5
- Establish high-performing teaching teams and student-centered learning systems
- Ensure KHDA alignment and readiness for inspection, compliance, and excellence
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Inspirational Leadership
- Create and promote the vision for a world-class British secondary school in Dubai
- Model values of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and inclusion
- Lead with Taaleem’s philosophy: Inspiring young minds through high expectations and community engagement
School Improvement & Evaluation
- Drive school self-evaluation and improvement aligned with KHDA/DSIB standards
- Analyze performance data to enhance teaching quality and student progress
- Develop action plans, curriculum enhancements, and professional development pathways
Team Management & Staffing
- Recruit and mentor a dynamic team of secondary teachers and middle leaders
- Implement a performance-led appraisal and CPD system
- Champion teacher wellbeing and collaborative practice
Curriculum Design & Delivery
- Ensure curriculum rigor, relevance, and responsiveness from KS3 to Post-16
- Embrace interdisciplinary learning with an emphasis on STEAM education
- Adapt the UK curriculum to UAE’s multicultural context, ensuring global readiness
Parent, Student & Community Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with families and local organizations
- Promote high standards of wellbeing, behavior, and attendance
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders and foster a thriving school culture
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Head of Secondary or SLT in a British curriculum school
- Strong leadership in start-up or high-growth educational environments preferred
- Deep understanding of KHDA expectations, compliance, and UAE school governance
- Commitment to safeguarding, equity, inclusion, and academic excellence
